Responsible for mortgage loan volume throughout all markets. Acts as an advisor to potential and existing mortgage customers. Originate and build relationships by providing exceptional service and cross-sell other bank products as a key to maximizing production. Ensure all aspects of banking operations in regards to mortgages and equity loan and line closings are in compliance with all applicable state and Federal laws, regulations and bank policies and procedures. Sales are made via inbound telephone calls and email from bank website and external sites.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Increase mortgage loan volume through effective selling.

  • Interviewing potential/existing customers to gather information concerning loan needs, earnings and financial condition in order to determine the appropriate loan products.

  • Knowledge and understanding of the full range of financial products and services to Cross-sell bank products to each mortgage applicant.

  • Developing new customer relationships and expanding existing ones; promoting loyalty by providing professional, exceptional service in accordance with the Bank’s Standards.

  • Build and deepen relationships with each potential/existing customer.

  • Coordinate information for approval between Underwriting and banking center for closing.

  • Achieving individual sales (inbound and outbound calls) quality and quantity goals set by management.

  • Comply with all appropriate bank policies and regulatory guidelines

  • Acting as primary contact for borrower, advise and sell to potential/existing customers the product that fits their specific loan needs.

  • Run Credit and DU on customer file, advise client of preapproval conditions and determine credit score acceptability to move forward with application

  • Determine acceptability of supporting documentation to be uploaded to file

  • Client notification of application status.

  • Negotiate/Lock Rates

  • Accept/upload disclosure/supporting documentation on all files

  • Work closely with Operations to close loan


  • Meet credit history and criminal background requirements associated with Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry registration process, to include FBI fingerprint criminal history and review of credit report.

  • High school degree or equivalent.

  • Minimum of 2 to 3 years previous experience previous experience in consumer mortgage and home equity business.

  • Minimum of 4 years experience in a sales environment.

  • Must exhibit a friendly and helpful attitude along with the ability to interact positively with executives and branch staff.

  • Must be able to meet tight deadlines.

  • Bilingual Preferred

  • Grade 12 - 2-5 years sales experience

  • Grade 14 - 5 plus years sales experience

  • Grade 10 - 0-2 years sales experience
