The Role

At BBVA Compass, the RESL Education Specialist facilitates the development and delivery of training materials to the Real Estate Secured Lending line of business. Specialists will be responsible for thedesign or modification of training materials, facilitating the training sessions and maintaining training records. They may also be involved with analyzing the training and development needs for assigned internal customers and evaluating the effectiveness of training programs,

Essential Functions

  1. Develops collaborative relationships with business line management, subject matter experts and other learning staff to identify learning opportunities and to gather source content for learning curriculum.

  2. Establishes performance objectives and learning outcomes to develop classroom-based and web-based instructional programs.

  3. Develops programs according to department needs or modifies purchased materials to coincide with training program intent and produces related training and communication materials.

  4. Conducts and facilitates training programs using established instructional theories to assist with learning retention.

  5. Creates activities for learning reinforcement, including situational and scenario-based questions.

  6. Analyzes the effectiveness of training interventions through associate job performance and post-course delivery assessments.

  7. Maintains current knowledge of company products/services, management needs and new training procedures to improve training methods and techniques.

  8. Implements new or purchased employee training and development programs, evaluates programs continually, and recommends enhancements to management.

  9. Interacts with industry peers and educational institutions to continually update methodologies for training and development activity.

  10. Responsible for strict adherence to all compliance and regulatory requirements as well as department policies and procedures.


Required Qualifications

  1. A Bachelor’s Degree in business, education, communications or related field of study is requiredor the equivalent in documented training experience at a professional level.

  2. Must have at least one year of training experience and one year of experience in the mortgage industry.

  3. Must have advanced computer skills, including Google, Microsoft Access, Power-Point and Excel.

  4. Capable of effectively communicating information in a professional and confidential manner.

  5. Self-motivated, able to deliver results through effective time-management and organizational skills.

  6. Collaborative, able to build trust and foster innovation with team members and business partners.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Knowledge of Mortgage Cadence, Appro, and other applicable BBVA lending systems is strongly preferred.

  2. Bilingual; English/Spanish.
