BBVA Compass Dealer Commercial Services headquartered in Houston, Texas has a position available for a Commercial Dealer Services Specialist. Ideally the position will be located in Houston, Texas. Other South Texas locations may be considered for the right candidate.

This position will contribute to the Division’s growth and profitability by developing and managing a portfolio of wholesale dealer relationships consisting primarily of new vehicle floorplan lines of credit with the ultimate goal of developing multi-product commercial banking relationships.

This position will be responsible for assisting in the development of sales and marketing strategies for primarily South Texas and surrounding states. In addition to managing a geographic sales territory, the incumbent will be responsible for serving as the subject matter expert as he/she supports a team of local Commercial Relationship Managers throughout South Texas.

In this high profile position, the Commercial Dealer Specialist will:

  • Become a market leader in their assigned territory. This will be accomplished by significant sales call activity and by serving as the product champion for the local Commercial Sales Teams throughout South Texas. The successful candidate will achieve their goals by providing leadership and assistance toward helping the regional Relationship Managers achieve their production goals.

  • Drive revenue opportunities by actively engaging internal partners to identify areas of opportunity within the assigned territory. Supporting the bank’s mission of cross selling products by anticipating and identifying customer needs and involving bank experts in Wealth Management, Private Banking, Trust, Treasury Management, Capital Markets, and Deposit Services.

  • Create and document an overall sales and marketing strategy for the assigned region. Gather market intelligence for the region related to key prospects, competitor analysis, economic conditions, and pricing strategies.

  • Responsible for training, coaching, and supporting the sales efforts of Regional Relationship Managers as it relates to the floorplan product for your assigned territory.

  • Provide monthly pipeline reporting to senior management and be an active participate in semi-monthly sales calls. Consistently involve local City Presidents and Bank Management in marketing plans and sales efforts in their respective geographies.

  • Be an active participate in local and regional dealer associations.

  • Assist in the credit analysis process by obtaining the required financial information, providing geographic and customer specific background information, assessing the strengths and weaknesses of the current competitive environment, recommending loan structuring and pricing, and identifying and mitigating customer specific risk attributes. Stay abreast of current credit policies and procedures.

  • Determine and recommend appropriate inventory credit line amounts and pricing; taking into account the customer’s sales cycles, financial performance, risk rating, inventory turnovers, and competition. Serve as the lead negotiator in loan structuring, pricing and documentation by making in person proposals to communicate Bank term sheets, commitment letters, loan agreements, and collateral requirements. Continuous and consistent follow up will be required.

  • Responsible for on-going relationship monitoring and being proactive in problem detection by providing timely communication to senior management as it relates to economic environmental changes, collateral audit issues, financial performance issues, and customer personnel issues.

  • Assist the Dealer Commercial Services Operations Team by helping to resolve issues related to curtailments, payments, and the provision of timely financial information. Become a subject matter expert on the bank’s floorplan management system and provide training to dealer customers. Continually monitor competition and seek out and communicate to senior management new and innovative approaches in the industry.



  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Marketing, or Management. Other degrees or equivalent experience will be considered in conjunction with significant financial analysis experience.

  • Eight or more years of commercial lending experience required with a minimum of 3 years floorplan experience in automotive, marine, or recreational vehicles. Candidate must possess a full understanding of all aspects of the automotive finance business including floorplan lending, commercial real estate lending, inventory auditing, and DDA management.
