BBVA Compass PROJECT MANAGER III in houston, Texas

BBVA is a global financial organization with more than 135,000 employees and 67 million customers across 35 countries. BBVA is on a mission to build the world’s #1 Digital Bank. Key to that objective is the success of its unique, disruptive fintech business unit known as New Digital Businesses (NDB). Like all business units NDB requires the support and attention of BBVA Compass. That’s where we come in. The goal of this internal BBVA Compass group is to support NDB and the Ventures within that business unit (i.e. Simple, Azlo, Open Platform).

The mission for this team is to provide support and governance to the NDB and BBVA Compass relationship. We work to understand the needs and objectives of the Ventures and coordinate their goals with the processes and resources within BBVA Compass.

As part of this team you’ll work with internal partners such as Operations, Legal, Finance, and Procurement. You’ll also engage with external partners and vendors. A day’s work will include developing solutions, creating reports, driving deliverables, and managing timelines in order to support the success of NDB and BBVA Compass. Also known as a “jack of all trades” this Project Manager will coordinate meetings, create invoices, track project milestones, develop SLAs, and much more. To do this you’ll utilize Velocity, Jira, Ariba, other internal systems, as well as the Google suite of products.

This team works with, and presents to, Executive Management of BBVA Compass and NDB so strong verbal and written communication skills are a must. Additionally as the Ventures grow and explore the fintech space their needs will change thus we must adapt as well. There is no shortage of “fact finding” you’ll have to do and often thinking outside of the box will be the only solution.

Required Skills:

  • 3+ years in financial industry and/or 2+ years of Project Management experience

  • Knowledge of BBVA Compass systems and processes

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • A self-starter with the ability to multi-task and stay on track

  • Agile personality willing to take on different objectives and “do what’s needed” for the overall success of the group

Preferred Skills:

  • Project Management and/or Change Management experience

  • Experience in Banking operations

  • Experience in systems analysis, process modeling, process design, suggesting and implementing process improvements

  • Certification in Project Management - Project Management Institute (PMP or CAPM) or others
