Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for the planning and implementation of community relations programs or projects that support organizational corporate responsibility objectives for community outreach, reputation building and business development within the Border region. He/she will also execute charitable giving and volunteerism activities in assigned geographies, providing support to the BBVA Compass Foundation, BBVA Compass Charity and BBVA Compass Volunteers. He/she will also be responsible for achieving and monitoring CRA benchmarks in assigned geographies. He/she will work individually or with a team to analyze requests for support, recommend decisions, and manage program/project budgets.

Duties:

Contributions & Sponsorships Management

  • Serve as a Program Officer for assigned markets with the BBVA Compass Foundation, to include customer calls, evaluations, public relations, committee meetings and final decisions, while also assisting with contribution requests.

  • Guide market leaders in appropriate resource allocation for community commitments necessary to develop an outstanding Corporate Responsibility program.

Volunteerism & Compass Charity Program Management

  • Create partnerships with local and national community organizations to promote volunteer opportunities (public schools, United Way, YMCA, Goodwill, etc).

Financial Education

  • Provide support for the delivery of financial education by employee volunteers, promoting our BBVA Compass Center for Financial Education.

Corporate Responsibility Reputation (“CRR”) Communications & Reporting

  • Support the production of executive level reports on a monthly & quarterly basis with regard to volunteerism and employee giving, including auditable reports to be used in official publications and for public recognition.

  • Prepare program narratives, internal communications stories and talking points for executives.

  • Provide leadership to special projects as assigned.

  • Monitor how the market is performing against CRA benchmarks for assigned geographies and putting programs in place to achieve those goals.

  • Manage the monitoring and reporting of the Community Reinvestment Act (“CRA”) for assigned geographies

  • Conduct strategic planning for all CRA related activities for assigned geographies and coordinate bank’s effort to ascertain community needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, Public Relations or Communications preferred.

  • Must have specialized experience in providing project coordination and community development activities to ensure compliance with CRA

  • Knowledge of Community Relations and Corporate Citizenship desired.

  • Excellent writing and public presentation skills is required.

  • Knowledge of presentation software and spreadsheets is a plus.

  • Ability and strong desire to interact with internal and external partners on a daily basis.

  • Must exhibit excellent oral, written and listening skills, and the ability to work and communicate with various partners.

  • Capable of functioning in a team environment while executing individual responsibilities.

  • Ability to travel regionally on a regular basis and work after hours and on weekends when necessary.

  • Outstanding team player with integrity and a high commitment to personal excellence.

  • Ability to champion efforts in creating a diverse workplace.

Officer I

5 – 8 years of experience. Works with limited supervision handling complex tasks and assignments. May provide guidance to less experienced staff.

Officer II

8 or more years of experience. Handles the most complex assignments and projects independently. Is considered a subject matter expert within organization. Provides guidance and work direction to less experienced staff.
