The Compliance Systems Analyst is responsible for supporting the BSA/AML/Sanctions Program, specifically concerning the various systems utilized by the BSA Compliance Department. The Compliance Systems Analyst will assist in ensuring compliance with all applicable BSA/AML and OFAC rules, regulations and guidance to (e.g., BSA, USA PATRIOT Act, OFAC requirements, NYS DFS 504, FRB SR11-7, etc.) in each business area, follow all procedures that will ensure the firm’s compliance with the applicable rules and regulations, and perform internal quality assurance as required.

Major/Essential Job Duties:

  • TheCompliance Systems Analystwill be responsible for completing various tasks related to the monitoring /surveillance and filtering program. Key tasks include data mining and analysis, validating data loads from source to monitoring/screening systems, on-going maintenance and tuning/calibration of systems/tools, assisting with system enhancements and implementations, creating and executing UAT scripts, and developing and enhancing model/tool documentation and policies and procedures.

  • This role requires liaising with Information Technology to ensure smooth integration of all system upgrades/enhancements, identifying system risk and employing mitigation strategies to limit or eliminate such risks.

  • TheCompliance Systems Analystmust be able to identify compliance risk and properly escalate, track and resolve matters accordingly.

  • TheCompliance Systems Analystmust be able to develop summary presentations for mid-level and senior-level management.

  • TheCompliance Systems Analystwill be asked to work on special projects and assignments, as needed.

  • This position requires the ability to learn and enhance in-house AML/Sanctions system methodologies and UAT programs, and also work with vendor tools (e.g., FCCM, Fircosoft, FIS eGifts, etc.).

  • Perform Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery testing as required

Level of Complexity and Risk Involved:

The Compliance Systems Analyst must complete all tasks within the required timeframes. Failure to do so could expose the bank to serious risks. The risks to the firm in not complying with the relevant rules and regulations may include fines, disciplinary actions, and cease and desist orders by regulators.

Scope of Duties:

The Compliance Systems Analyst plays a critical role within the BAS Compliance Department. The role is also an important part of the greater compliance governance framework in that the Compliance Systems Analyst is responsible for identifying and escalating, as appropriate, all risks to the bank. The Compliance Systems Analystwill also work on special projects and assignments as needed.


Skills, knowledge, and abilities/Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent experience in business, computer science or related discipline

  • Minimum three years of experience in Compliance/BSA/AML

  • Experience with AML and sanctions systems is required (Case Tracker, FCCM, Fircosoft and FIS/eGifts are a plus)

  • Experience with SQL, MS Excel, data cleansing, mining, and manipulation is required (Oracle syntax is a plus)

  • Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) designation or ability to acquire within 60 days of hire is required

  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office products (e.g, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, etc.)

  • Must possess technical knowledge of BSA/AML, USA PATRIOT Act, OFAC Sanctions Programs, Know Your Customer (KYC), Foreign Correspondent Banking, and all facets of SWIFT

  • Experience in dealing with Internal Auditors and I.A. methodology – specifically concerning UAT and validation

  • Must be able to interface with Senior Management and exhibit a high level of professionalism

  • Must be a team player while able to work independently or with limited supervision on highly sensitive matters

  • AML IT experience/system support experience highly desirable

  • Experience in dealing with U.S. regulators is highly desirable

  • Knowledge of payment processing flow (Chips and Fedwire) is highly desirable

  • Statistical analysis skills are a plus
